2) Batasia Loop (war memorial)
Entry fees:Rs 5 per head
Batase means the windy place. This is natural spur of the Tiger Hill mountain around which the narrow gauge rail makes double loop its way between Ghoom rand’s Darjeeling towns. This is in itself an Engineering Marvel.
The sanctified War Memorial consist of the raised marble platform in oval shape 37 ft * 24 ft . With a 9 ft high bronze statute of a Gorkha soldier in ‘shok shastra ‘ and a 30 ft high triangular Granite cenotaph on a 3 ft octagonal base with the ” roll of honour ” engraved on it.
3) Ghoom monastery
This pic is of Maitreya Buddha at Ghoom monastery.
This is a very nice place to visit. One can have a clear picture of Buddhism. Its very refreshing.
Many small children also stay there. They studied as well as do work in these type of monastery’s.
2nd Trip: Rs. 100 per head( Mixed point)
1) Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda
We left our hotel at 9.30 am and reached the temple around 10 am. We are in deep exciting mood. The Temple was awesome and the view from top was amazing. The 2 storied white building was built in a traditional Japanese style. Close to the temple is the Peace pagoda which showcase the 4 Avatars of Lord Buddha. Car cannot go till the entrance , so u need to walk in order to get in for 5-6 mins. The temple is open from 4.30 pm in the morning till 7 pm .There is no fees to get in.
Others are in this category
Lalkhoti , Zoo , Himalayan Mountaineering Institute ( HMI ) , Tenzing Rock and last but not the least Rock Garden
Out of the above ZOO and HMI is a must visit place.
TEA Garden
It is the most famous place here. Here u can actually see the Terrace Cultivation , what we have studied. Many people visit here and almost 80% of them buy Tea from here. We almost spend 1 hr here after that we went straight to hotel and packed our bags to leave Darjeeling, it was 5 pm now. It was almost dark. So my advice is to , be in New Jalpaiguri as early as possible. Leave the town Darjeeling before 12 noon.
The tour over, the trip Ends……………………………………………………………
