Technology has changed the definition of Traveling

Today I am talking about those things which are indispensable for travel. Yes, you got it right, its Gadget.

In today’s era we have invented many things that has made our lives more comfortable than it was before. We have many resources and I must have to say that we are making full use of them. Enormous options in each and every thing. But sometimes these options confuse us as well. And we are stuck in the dilemma to choose.  So here I present the one stop solution (based on my personal observation).

In Ancient time

Traveler’s used to carry maps, guide books, compass etc.. That was also the era when people travelled with so much of difficulty, yet they were happy in doing that.

But now in recent times

Technology has changed the definition of traveling. I will say it is a complete turnaround that has happened. Now no more maps, guide books etc.. Now there is no need to talk to locals to know the way for your destination. These changes have occurred recently only (in last 5 years).

Now we can book the flight tickets in a couple of minutes, click pictures(numbers does not matter), we can get to know the insights of places just in a fraction of second and above all everything while traveling. Seriously, technology has completely revolutionized the experience of traveling or I will say in plain words: It eases the definition of traveling.

Now let’s see how technology has done this:

Birth of Android Operating System

Android has completely revolutionized the use of mobile phones. Now it’s more than a phone. Samsung was the first player in the market who migrated to Android. This made Samsung the king of the Industry. You know it all happened overnight only.

The main reason why android has been accepted widely is because of its application. Android store provides “n” no of applications which are really useful, at free of cost or at minimal charge. This has contributed a lot and travelers are the group who is benefitted the most out by it. 

GPS (General Positioning System) in synchronization with Google maps

With the help of this application we can track the exact location where we are. Now we can go easily where ever we want. All we are required to give is our present location and destination where we want to go. It will search and will give us many alternatives how to reach our destination. Also it will give us many option like –“How you want to go” by Bus, Train, Plane, Walk and Drive.  It is really useful for travelers. I will say a must have for travelers.

So what are the requirement of travelers?

· Internet on road(3g or 4g)

· Wireless fidelity(wifi)

· GPS

· 8-10 hrs of battery back up

· light weight

· Camera

· Should be handy(Easy to carry)

The above requirement can be easily fulfilled by any Smart Phones but the problem area would be the screen size. In my opinion 8 inch should be ideal.

So, finally we are left with the only option: Tablets. Now the greatest difficulty is to choose the operating system- Android, Windows or IOS. Now a days many no of tablets are available in market. Many options each in Android and windows. But for IOS only one: I-Pad.

What are the specification to be looked upon while selecting the best tablet

Battery is the most important. Both Android/Windows has to work on battery part. Whatever they say 4100MAH or 5000MAH, still it will get discharged soon. So one cannot afford if it will get discharged early.

RAM, for better interphase and speed we need at least 2GB RAM. Normally we will get 1GB but 2GB would be desirable. This is because now a days we all work with I5/7 processor.

Quad core Processor, is the best one till date. It will give you the ultimate experience of multitasking.

Speed of the processor, at least 2ghz is desirable. To support RAM and Quad core processor speed is needed, otherwise the system will hang.

Camera, it should be good enough to take pictures. And front camera is a must for video calling.

Weight also matters because you need to carry it with you.

3G/4G+WIFI, Should support both because everywhere you will not get WIFI.

OTG Support, to connect external drives, keyboard, mouse etc..

But Apple is incomparable. Apple is the market leader in Tablets. Its I-PAD is awesome and anytime superior to any tablets available in the market. Processor is very fast. Battery is amazing. Display is more than what we call HD. Camera is amazing. Wifi is really fast. All the features are packed in one with a high price tag. It’s really costly but still I will say its worth.

Now a days these tablets are making the life of a traveler easier than what it was before. It is basically due to technology. Now every traveler can travel light without carrying any books, print outs, maps etc..Nothing is permanent in this world other than the change. In the day of modern inventions and discoveries, R&D is the core and people and corporate are ready to invest any amount of money to make the best happen. Let’s make the best use for their investment and move around the world at ease.
