Maldives is not just any other destination. It’s totally different as compared to other beach destination.
Look before you leap
- Island Resorts
- There are lot of Islands in Maldives. On each Island there are Resorts. But there is some Island where, there is only one resort and some there are two.
- Once you are on the island resort, you cannot go any where
- You have to eat at your resort only
- If you are interested in doing Island Hopping or any Watersports, then you have to contact your resort front desk for information.
- Meal Plan
- The below are the different meal plan that are offered by resorts in Maldives
- Breakfast Only
- Half Board: Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner
- Full Board : Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
- Full/ Half Board Plus: Plus include some drinks
- All Inclusive: All three meals + Beverages+ Activities+ Other benefits
- All Inclusive Premium: As the name suggests
- Not all the resorts offer the above meal plans. Some offer All Inclusive only and some offer all the above mentioned meal plans. It differs from Resort to Resort.
- In-Villa dining is normally not allowed but it might be included in All Inclusive Premium package only.
- There is Multi Specialty A la Carte Restaurants as well, which might not be included in your meal plan. It generally depends on no of nights of stay or the All Inclusive meal plan you booked.
- Return Airport Transfers
- It varies from resort to resort what mode of transfers they are offering.
- There are speed boat, seaplane and domestic planes.
- Those resorts which are very close to Male Airport, they will offer speed boat transfers only.
- But there are some resorts which offer both Seaplane and Domestic plane.
- Seaplane and Domestic Plane are operated by Government. So resort doesn’t have anything to do, if it get cancelled or delayed. They assist you to book through them to reach the resort. But if it gets cancelled, then definitely resort will provide some alternatives.
- It might be the case, that seaplane you are in, have guests from 2-3 different resorts which are located in nearby Islands. So they might drop them first.
- Your pick up and drop timings you will get to know only one day in advance.
- Indian Vegetarian Food
- Be ready to experience the diversity in Vegetarian food.
- Each and every resort you will get variety of Vegetarian food and it can also customise based on your requests as well.
- Most of the resorts have Indian Chefs, so you can inform them one day in advance what you want to eat.
- Some resorts have Indian Restaurants as well, which may or may not be included in your plan.
- If you are hard core Indian food fan, then you should select resorts, which specifically take care of Indian guests or else stay at home.
- Room category
- Beach Villa with Pool and without Pool
- Water Villa with Pool and without Pool
- Standard Deluxe Room with Pool and without Pool
- Pool might be Plunge Pool or Full Sized Pool
- Based on Room category you booked, you might get some additional benefits as well
- In Water Villa also, there can be different variety of water villa
- Watersports
- All Non-Motorised activities at most of the resorts are free of charge
- For others , you can even look for All Inclusive Inclusions, you might get some complimentary
- You can’t book anything in advance and even though if you can don’t book it. Because, prices will be same even you book it directly after your arrival. Also, it depends on weather conditions so better will be to book when are there.
Suggestions
If you want to plan a trip to Maldives, always keep in mind that it’s the most luxurious destination you will ever visit and Luxury is never cheap.
