Cambodia: Introduction
by
Maybe it seems out of the radar, but I always wanted to travel on a SEA circuit comprises of Thailand- Cambodia- Vietnam- Laos- Thailand. It will take almost 6 months to complete this. Due to a shortage of time and money, I decided to explore Cambodia. Cambodia is the second stay for all the backpackers after Thailand. One can easily travel by road from Thailand to Cambodia, with an ease of Visa on Arrival.
About the Country
It’s the cheapest country I have seen till date. 95% people are Buddhist. Although here you will see traces of Hinduism, still locals don’t have much idea about it. The major cities are- Siem Reap (Cultural Capital), Phnom Penh (Financial capital) and Sihanoukville (Gateway to some of the most beautiful Islands). The most visited Islands- Koh Rong, Koh Rong Samloem and Koh Ta Kiev.
Exchange Rate
I USD = 4000 Cambodian Riyal
Local Transport
No Uber or Grab. But not to worry, one can hire tuk-tuk or car for a whole day at a very cheap price. Siem Reap is really comfy to travel, but Phnom Penh can be little difficult because of traffic.
Food
Khmer food is somewhat like Thai Food. The menu looks so similar but the preparation and taste are totally different. The some of the local food are Pomelo Salad, Tom Yam Soup, Jasmine Steam rice, Fried Ginger with Fish etc.
What to do
The Main Purpose to Visit Cambodia for most of the people is Angkor Vat, Genocide Museum, and Plankton. Aside from this most of the people come here for rest. There are many things to see and do here. Like one can see Apsara dance and love the Buffet Dinner, Island Hopping, Party on Pub Street of Siem Reap, Gambling at Naga Casino in Phnom Penh and much more.
Weather
Weather is like other South East Asian nations. Neither too hot nor too humid. Almost same weather throughout the year. It also experiences rainfall from May to June.
Thus, this was the short Introduction of this Amazing Country. If you want to know something else, do write in the comment section.
